In connection with the theme of this year’s learning in the schools—Celebration/Hagigah, let’s explore why and how we celebrate Judaism with our TIC community.
What do we gain from being a part of the TIC community?
- having a Jewish social network to practice and celebrate our traditions and simhas as well as provide comfort in hard times
- feeling that people in our Jewish community know and appreciate us
- being able to contribute our time and skills to our community
- having a place where our children feel safe, comfortable, and loved in a Jewish setting
- teaching our children (from our involvement at TIC) to be inspired to stay connected to a Jewish community throughout their lives
- learning from each other to deepen and strengthen our Jewish identities
How do we enrich our connections to the TIC community?
- Celebrate Shabbat at TIC:
- Attend the grade level Shabbat dinners—a great opportunity for TIC families to connect and celebrate Shabbat together, regardless of where their children receive their Jewish education.
- Attend Shabbat morning services either in the Main Sanctuary, in Shabbat B’yahad (our Shabbat morning program for families with children up to 1st grade that meets in room D on the lower level from 10:45-noon) or Shabbat Experience (our Shabbat morning program for grades 2-6—parents welcome—that meets in the Lower Level Conference Room from 10:45-noon). Have your children take leadership roles in Shabbat B’yahad and Shabbat Experience any Shabbat and on their grade level Shabbat days.
- Our Family Havdalah programs this year on 12/15 and 2/2 will include TIC Centennial activities.
- Celebrating holidays
- Through the High Holiday youth services, TIC youth can learn about and celebrate the holidays as well as meet new friends and strengthen our youth community.
- Sukkot Dinners—All ages of our community come together for this popular event! RSVP form in this bulletin and on our website.
- Simhat Torah—All ages come and dance, sing, and eat candy to celebrate Torah!
- Hanukkah—This year we’ll have an exciting new program on 12/2 in the morning with activities for all ages to provide us with meaningful ways to celebrate and learn about Hanukkah. Contact Abby Reiken to assist with this new program.
- Family Education programs
- New LIFE family education programs will provide opportunities for parents to learn with their children.
- A revised 6th grade Bar/Bat Mitzvah education series will include new small group tzedakah projects and support to reach your family goals.
For this year, set some goals with your family for how you all can get more involved in the TIC community. What can you give to the community and what will you get back in return?
Put upcoming program dates in your calendar! Looking forward to seeing you at TIC!
