Welcome
September, 2007
Dear Teens and Parents,
Welcome to a new year at Havurat Torah, the Temple Israel Center Middle and High School. The education team has been hard at work creating an interesting array of classes and programs for our 7th – 12th grade students.
Sunday mornings will have a new look and feel.
- 7th graders will meet from 11:10AM - 1:00PM. The morning will begin with Sihah, a time to build community and share thoughts and opinions on a variety of Jewish topics. This will be followed by a rotation between Hebrew and M.A.D. Mitzvot.
- 8th–12th graders will meet from 9:00 -10:50AM beginning with, Kesher, which will include HOT TOPICS, and bagels, followed by, a kors behira (an elective of choice).
On Wednesday evenings,
- 7th grade students will have two forty-five minute skills classes.
- 8th-12 grade students will have, a kors hova (their grade level Core Class), as well as, a kors behira (an elective course).
- We are also offering, a Madrichim program for 8th – 12th graders, (see details on page 17). And of course, there will be a pizza break for all in-between!
Mitkadmim, offers courses for those who are looking for a more academically challenging alternative. This can be taken as part of our regular program or in conjunction with the Sunday Prozdor program at JTS. Those interested in these courses must fill out a separate application. If you are interested in this option, please call our office for further details including tuition for Prozdor and an application.
We look forward to an enriching, socially active year. See you on the first day of school - Sunday, September 16th!
B’ Shalom,
Robin Kellner Friedman Nancy Parkes
Middle School and High School Director Director of Education
… and the entire Havurat Torah educational staff!
Please note: REGISTRATION for GRADES 8-12 ELECTIVES
will be on Wednesday, Sept. 19th from 6:30-8:30 PM.
8th-12th grade students will have the opportunity to learn about the different electives that are being offered and to meet the Havurat Torah educators. Please bring a friend with you and share with them all that TIC has to offer! (7th grade will have regular class at this time).
