Our Philosophy and Mission
Philosophy
In a warm nurturing environment, we provide a developmentally appropriate program that helps children achieve their full potential; - socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Because we regard each child as a whole and unique human being, we offer expressive materials and activities which encourage personal choice and discovery rather than response to teacher direction. Each child is encouraged to make choices, to initiate activities, and to develop skills which will enhance his/her self-esteem. Mission At Temple Israel Center we teach the whole child. Through our curriculum which encompasses social, emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive areas we provide: · A rich environment each day for the children with numerous “Hands-on” experiences · A strong sense of Jewish identity · Enthusiastic Shabbat and Holiday celebrations · Two Nursery School Shabbatot per year, each with children singing on the Bimah · Visits from a drama, nature and music teachers The children actively participate in: · Holiday food and toy drives · Mitzvah Projects for St. Bernard’s Center for Learning · Visits to the Schnurmacher Nursing Home (4 year olds) · Educational Field Trips (4 year olds)
