A conservative, egalitarian synagogue

FAQ

FAQWHAT TYPES OF PRAYER EXPERIENCES ARE AVAILABLE?

We offer a variety of Shabbat and Holiday services from traditional to an informal, family friendly, lay-led Havurah Minyan. Our popular Contemplative Service, led by Rabbi Gordon Tucker, combines elements of song, text study and discussion together with the traditional Shabbat morning liturgy.

Our warm and inviting children's services include three different prayer experiences that are geared to different ages and stages of childhood development. A spirited Teen Minyan meets bi-monthly.

I'D LIKE TO JOIN BUT I DON'T KNOW ANYONE AT TEMPLE ISRAEL CENTER

There are many opportunities to get involved and meet other members as soon as you join. Through our Ambassador Program you can be connected with another TIC member to help you integrate into the Temple community. Our Membership Committee sponsors New Member Events throughout the year.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN NOW AS A NEW PARENT?

It's never too early to join the TIC community.

In addition to our children's services, TIC supports many programs that are geared to young families. Our Youth and Family Educator has created themed Shabbatot that include family dinners, special services and activities for children of all ages. Past themes have included Shabbat Around the World, Jungle Shabbat, Colonial Shabbat, Pirate Shabbat and Wild West Shabbat.

Why Should I Join now that my kids are grown?

There are many different community building, adult oriented experiences available at TIC. They include a vibrant Adult Education Program, Social Action Programs and an Israel Action Committee. Sisterhood and Brotherhood sponsor many exciting intergenerational events. Our popular Legacy Music Series perpetuates our Jewish musical heritage by presenting three concerts each year, including an annual Opera Concert.

WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS SPECIAL NEEDS?

We are one of the few temples in Westchester that has a comprehensive special needs program from Nursery through High School. Our goal is to help children with special needs develop into active and knowledgeable members of the Jewish community.

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTED MEMBERSHIP TO THE SYNAGOGUE FOR NURSERY SCHOOL FAMILIES?

Yes. Any Nursery School non-member family who joins TIC will receive 50% off the total dues in their first year of membership.
This discount applies regardless of which dues category the family chooses.
